Tūmatauenga

Tū is the resolve to face what must be faced. He models decisive action, and the discipline that must come with it.

The Atua of people — of courage, conflict, and taking responsibility. Anything humans do deliberately, from war to cooking a meal, sits with him.

Te kōrero — the story

It was Tū who proposed that the parents be separated, and Tū who stood when his brothers fled the storm. Because he stood, humans learned to hunt, cultivate and fish — to meet the world directly rather than hide from it.

He is not simply 'the war god'. He represents human agency: the decision to act and to carry the consequences.
